No Girl Should Age Out Alone
At Tulsa Girls’ Home, we recognize that the journey does not end when a girl leaves foster care—it often becomes even more difficult.
Each year, thousands of youth age out of the foster care system and are expected to navigate adulthood overnight, often without the consistent support, family connection, or resources many of their peers rely on. The reality is sobering: 22–30% of youth who age out of foster care experience homelessness, and many face ongoing challenges with employment, education, and stability.
Behind these numbers are young women carrying trauma, navigating independence too quickly, and trying to build a future without a safety net.
That is why Tulsa Girls’ Home has developed a Nonresidential and Transitional Living Program—to ensure that no young woman walks this transition alone.
When Foster Care Ends, Her Need for a Home Doesn’t.Consistency Beyond Placement
-
We actively connect youth to critical federal and community resources, including housing support, education assistance, healthcare access, and workforce programs. Through programs like independent living services and national support initiatives, youth are guided step-by-step—not handed a list and left to figure it out alone.
-
Our team ensures each young woman experiences a continuum of care, meaning support does not stop at discharge. We provide consistent check-ins, individualized planning, and advocacy to help navigate real-life challenges as they arise.
-
Understanding the importance of both physical and mental health, we assist with medication management, appointment coordination, and healthcare continuity, ensuring no gaps in care during critical transitions.
-
From budgeting and employment to housing stability and daily life skills, we provide hands-on guidance that meets each young woman where she is—because independence is learned, not assumed.
-
Healing and growth do not happen in isolation. Our quarterly groups create space for shared experiences, peer connection, and community, allowing young women to process their journeys, build relationships, and realize they are not alone.
